Be sure to properly bleed diesel fuel systems after repairs and maintenance!

Air can enter the lines and components after certain types of work on the diesel fuel system.

Typical causes include, for example:

• Fuel filter replacement
• Replacement of lines or pumps
• Work on fuel components
• A fuel tank that has been completely drained or run dry

Air in the fuel system can impair fuel flow and, particularly in modern common-rail systems, make it difficult to start the engine.

Leitenberger Automotive Test Equipment offers electric, vacuum-based, and compressed-air-powered solutions for bleeding, extracting, and transferring diesel fuel. These include, among others, electric bleed pumps, vacuum boxes, and the KEG 01 fuel extraction/bleed unit.

The required bleeding process depends on the vehicle and fuel system.
